A steering mechanism 22 for a cargo pedal cycle, wherein the cargo pedal cycle has its front wheel (14, figure 1) spaced from the steering input (18, figure 1) via a cargo frame portion 20 of the pedal cycle frame 12 to permit cargo to be carried by the cargo frame portion 20. The steering mechanism 22 comprises a steering input shaft 24, a steering output shaft 26 and a linking shaft 28. The steering input shaft 24 is configured to receive steering input from a rider to cause the steering input shaft 24 to rotate about its longitudinal axis (Ai). The steering output shaft 26 is connectable to the front wheel (14) and rotatable about its longitudinal axis (A2) to permit rotation of the front wheel (14) in the direction of the steering input. The linking shaft 28 is rotatable about its longitudinal axis (A3a, A3b) and has first and second ends 32, 34. The first end 32 is mechanically connected to the steering input shaft 24 via a first connector 36, which may be a bevel gear. The second end 34 is mechanically connected to the steering output shaft 26 via a second connector 38, which may also be a bevel gear. The first connector 36 is configured to change direction of the axis of rotation (As) of the steering input shaft 24 to the axis of rotation (Au) of the linking shaft 28, and the second connector (38) is configured to change direction of the axis of rotation (A3b) of the linking shaft (28) to the axis of rotation (A2) of the steering output shaft (26). Therefore, the connectors (36, 38) permit conversion of steering input from a rider to steering output to the front wheel (14).
