Propeller blade pitch altering assembly10 having a spider hub 12 comprising a hub 14 and a set of arms 16 circumferentially about the hub and projecting radially from the hub 14, wherein the set of arms 16 receive a set of blades 20 such that a blade root 22 is rotationally mountable into an arm 16 included in the set of arms 16. A crosshead 42, located within the hub is axially moveable relative to the hub and attaches to a torque tube 44 via a motion converter 46. The torque tube connects at a first end to the blade root 22. When the crosshead is moved axially, the motion converter, preferably comprising a needle bearing located in a channel, converts the axial motion to a rotational one, rotating the torque tube and altering the pitch of the propeller
