The present invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a driver-assistance system, referred to as ADAS system, of a vehicle (10) travelling on a multi-lane road (111, 112, 113). To this end, a first piece of information about the detection of a road sign (11) is obtained. Data representative of road marking lines (100 to 103) are obtained and a polynomial representation of a reference line among the road marking lines (100 to 103) is determined on the basis of the data as the vehicle (10) moves. A second piece information representative of the detection of a change in the reference line is determined on the basis of a coefficient of the polynomial representation that is associated with the monomial of degree 0 of the polynomial representation. The ADAS system is controlled on the basis of the first and the second piece of information.
