The invention relates to a measuring device (1) for ascertaining the position of an overhead line (2) of an overhead line system, which is paired with a track, relative to a rail vehicle (3) traversing the track. Because the measuring device (1) has a time-of-flight camera assembly, which is arranged on the rail vehicle (3), for capturing image data with depth information of a detection region (16) containing the overhead line (2) and an analysis unit, which is designed to estimate positional data of the overhead line (2) using different estimation methods and to ascertain the relative position (X, Z) of the overhead line (2) by spatially and temporally fusing the positional data, a measuring device (1) is provided which is capable of detecting the position of the overhead line even during a high-speed operation of a rail vehicle (3) carrying the measuring device (1).
