A self-stabilizing vehicle includes more than two wheels. A mass gyroscope (4) is fixed at an occupant compartment chassis (2) corresponding to a portion where occupants sit to provide an effective vertical stability. Each wheel (13) has an optimal contact with the road surface so that the vehicle can cope with various variations caused by external forces during movement, such as a centrifugal force, a crosswind, movement of occupants and loads, and rugged road surfaces. The occupant compartment portion (2) may tilt outwards in response to the centrifugal force. If the vehicle is a vehicle having three or more wheels, the load is evenly distributed on the left wheel and the right wheel which move oppositely up and down about an effectively centrally-mounted shaft pin (13), so as to achieve similar loads on the left wheel and the right wheel. Therefore, the vehicle can instantly adapt to the variations of the road surfaces and other external forces without affecting the stability of the occupant compartment (2). Further, the present disclosure proposes a method for operating the self-stabilizing vehicle. According to the self-stabilizing vehicle and the operating method thereof, a vehicle having a narrow body may be used. When the vehicle undergoes external forces such as the centrifugal force and the crosswind, the occupant compartment can maintain the vertical stability even though the wheels may slide sideways.
