A method of monitoring a high-lift system (200) on an aircraft (100) having a first drive station (201, 202, 203, or 204) installed on a first side of a flap (114 or 115) and a second drive station (201, 202, 203, or 204) installed on a second side of the flap, the method comprising: monitoring a current draw (11,12,13, or 14) of the first drive station for actuating the flap; identifying an expected current draw of the first drive station; comparing the monitored current draw of the first drive station to the expected current draw of the first drive station to determine if a differential between the monitored current draw and the expected current draw exceeds a first threshold; and generating a failure signal if the differential between the monitored current draw and the expected current draw exceeds the first threshold.
