A spline telescopic shaft (5; 5C) includes an inner shaft (35; 35A; 35C) having an outer tooth surface (35b; 35bA; 35bC) formed on its outer periphery, and a cylindrical outer shaft (36; 36B; 36C) having an inner tooth surface (36b; 36bB; 36bC) arranged to engage with the outer tooth surface (35b; 35bA; 35bC) and arranged to fit to the inner shaft (35; 35A; 35C) slidably in an axial direction (X1) of the inner shaft (35; 35A; 35C). Either one (35b; 35bA; 36bC) of the outer tooth surface (35b; 35bA; 35bC) and the inner tooth surface (36b; 36bB; 36bC) includes a first resin coating (40; 40A; 40C). The other (36b; 36bB; 35bC) of the outer tooth surface (35b; 35bA; 35bC) and the inner tooth surface (36b; 36bB; 36bC) includes a second resin coating (46; 46B; 46C). The second resin coating (46; 46B; 46C) is formed by processing for sliding an intermediate member (555; 555C) for manufacturing the inner shaft and an intermediate member (57; 57C) for manufacturing the outer shaft in the axial direction, to transfer a part of a resin material (59; 59C) provided in the intermediate member (555; 57C) for manufacturing the shaft including the one tooth surface (35b; 35bA; 36bC) for forming the first resin coating (40; 40A; 40C) to the intermediate member (57; 555C) for manufacturing the shaft including the other tooth surface (36; 36bB; 35bC).
