The invention relates to the technical field of intelligent traffic, in particular to an urban road vehicle lane changing intention recognition system and method.The urban road vehicle lane changing intention recognition system comprises a data collecting and processing module, a feature extraction module and an intention recognition module, and lane changing intention recognition is conducted through cooperative work of the three modules; specifically, the data acquisition and processing module collects data from various sensors, carries out standardization processing, and carries out smoothing processing on the sensor data by using a Savitzky-Golay filter. The feature extraction module captures the relationship between different features in input data by using a Transform encoder and extracts important features related to a lane changing intention for the problem of insufficient target feature extraction. The intention recognition module uses a BiGRU model combined with an attention mechanism to carry out weight matching on the important features and finally uses a Softmax function to calculate the driving intention of the target vehicle; a lane changing intention recognition method is formed in the processing process of each module. According to the invention, the identification accuracy and real-time performance of the lane changing intention are improved.
