The invention relates to a lane selection method and device applied to an intelligent driving vehicle, equipment and a medium, and the method comprises the steps: detecting the number of vehicles in each passable lane under the condition that at least two passable lanes exist in front; in the at least two passable lanes, the passable lane with the optimal self-vehicle driving efficiency and/or safety is selected according to the vehicle number to serve as a target lane; and selecting a to-be-driven lane based on the target lane so as to improve the driving efficiency and/or safety of the vehicle. By implementing the lane selection method applied to the intelligent driving vehicle provided by the invention, the problem that the driving efficiency or safety of the intelligent driving vehicle is not high during lane selection can be improved.
