One embodiment relates to a system comprising a processor, a computer vision module, and a control module; wherein the processor is operable to detect a lane decrease in the most recently disappeared lane; detecting an adjacent vehicle in the recently disappearing lane and a driving action of the adjacent vehicle; detecting a license plate of an adjacent vehicle; receiving a first signal for the driving mode from the adjacent vehicle; detecting a lane vanishing point in the latest vanishing lane; determining a time interval for an adjacent vehicle to arrive at the lane vanishing point; a hazard assessment of the collision is performed based on the driving action, and then control commands are transmitted to an actuator system of the host vehicle based on the hazard assessment.
