A system for designing a vehicle drive system. The system includes a first sensor, a second sensor, and a processor. The first sensor is configured to obtain an external parameter indicative of a lane marking during a time period during which the automatic driving program is operating at the vehicle. The second sensor is configured to obtain an interior parameter of the vehicle during the time period. The processor is configured to detect a lane contact event occurring during the time period, determine an error occurring in the drive system that causes the lane contact event based on the internal parameters and the external parameters, identify a fault domain of the drive system that has occurred the error, and change a design of a program of the drive system associated with the fault domain.
