The invention provides a commercial vehicle energy recovery device and a control method, and relates to the technical field of vehicle energy recovery, and the commercial vehicle energy recovery device comprises a whole vehicle weight estimation module used for estimating the whole vehicle weight; the vehicle control unit VCU is connected with the whole vehicle weight estimation module and used for receiving a signal of the whole vehicle weight estimation module, estimating the current weight of the whole vehicle and adjusting the working intensity of the energy recovery system according to the current weight of the whole vehicle; and the energy recovery system is electrically connected with the vehicle control unit VCU and is used for adjusting the energy recovery intensity according to an instruction of the vehicle control unit VCU so as to realize recovery and storage of kinetic energy. According to the method, the no-load state and the full-load state of the vehicle are distinguished, the energy recovery intensity is dynamically adjusted accordingly, and therefore the performance of the commercial vehicle and the user experience are remarkably improved in multiple aspects; by detecting and calculating the weight of the vehicle in real time and adjusting the energy recovery intensity, it is ensured that the vehicle can obtain the optimal braking effect no matter whether the vehicle is in a no-load state or a full-load state.
