The invention provides a water wind power generation system adopting a sailing boat. The water wind power generation system comprises a boat body with a sail; a kite connected to the hull via a tether; a lateral force generation unit that generates a lateral force in a direction substantially orthogonal to the front-rear direction of the hull; a steering device for controlling the direction of the bow of the hull; and a control unit that controls at least one of the angle of the sail and the steering device such that the tension of the kite is reduced by the lateral force.
