The method comprises the following steps: acquiring map information of obstacles around a vehicle; acquiring an edge point sequence of the obstacle approaching the vehicle according to the obstacle map information; according to the curvature of the edge points in the edge point sequence, a target smooth point set is obtained, the target smooth point set comprises a plurality of continuous edge points, and the curve length corresponding to the target smooth point set is larger than the width of the vehicle; and generating a virtual parking space according to the target smooth point set. In this way, the dependence on the related marks of the parking space marked on the road surface in advance in the parking process can be effectively reduced, and the applicability and robustness of the automatic parking system are improved.
