The invention provides a reliable docking mechanism suitable for a modular reconfigurable robot, which is characterized by comprising a passive connection unit, an active connection unit and a docking control module, the passive connection unit is arranged on a passive connection panel and comprises a telescopic shaft, an active connection unit and a docking control module; the first butt joint driving motor is used for driving the telescopic shaft to stretch out and draw back, the active connecting unit is arranged on the active connecting panel and comprises a second butt joint driving motor, an active opening and closing assembly and one or more passive opening and closing assemblies, and the active opening and closing assembly comprises a first butt joint block and a second butt joint block; and the passive opening and closing assembly is arranged on the active connecting panel in a sliding mode, the passive opening and closing assembly comprises a second butt joint block which is arranged on the active connecting panel in a sliding mode, and the first butt joint block and the second butt joint block abut against each other to form an opening and closing hole. In a word, the device has a better butt-joint error-tolerant rate and a simple and highly-stable locking mechanism.
