The invention discloses an improved robust control method for a semi-active suspension. Comprising the following steps: establishing a 1/4 ceiling control suspension model; taking the ideal ceiling suspension model as a reference, and calculating the active force of the suspension of the reference model under random pavement input; calculating a damping value required by the semi-active suspension by designing a sliding mode surface and selecting an approaching law; a genetic algorithm is used for optimizing reaching law parameters and weights in the sliding mode controller so as to balance the performance of the suspension system and ensure the stability and comfort of the vehicle under variable driving conditions; and optimizing parameters are input into a semi-active suspension control system. The control method has quick response capability to load change, can quickly adjust a control strategy and maintain stable operation of the vehicle, is good in robustness, effectively resists the influence of parameter uncertainty and external disturbance on the system, and ensures the optimal driving effect of the vehicle under complex road conditions.
