A system for estimating range remaining on a tire supporting a vehicle includes a processor in electronic communication with an electronic control system of the vehicle. The calibration module determines a wear rate of the tire and transmits the wear rate of the tire to the processor. A severity evaluation module is in electronic communication with the processor, receives real-time input, and generates a real-time driving severity value. A range estimation module is in electronic communication with the processor and determines a current wear state of the tire. The range estimation module generates an estimate of a remaining range of the tire based on a wear rate of the tire, a real-time driving severity value, and a current wear state of the tire.
