The invention provides a split type thunder-vision fusion system and method. The system comprises a video camera and a millimeter wave radar. A data link for data exchange between the video camera and the millimeter wave radar is arranged between the video camera and the millimeter wave radar; the millimeter wave radar further comprises a data processing unit, and the data processing unit processes data collected by the video camera and the millimeter wave radar. According to the method provided by the invention, efficient and accurate detection and tracking of the target vehicle are realized through mutual comparison and superposition of data, and a method for screening, fault tolerance and precision of missing detection, error detection and detection accuracy is provided. According to the method, the utilization rate of equipment and the detection accuracy are improved, and more advantages are brought to actual application scenes; in the aspect of the detection range, the detection coverage range of the system is obviously larger than the detection coverage range of integrated thunder-vision fusion, possibility is provided for wider monitoring, and the monitoring efficiency of the system is enhanced.
