The novel steering column comprises a steering column sleeve and an inner shaft, and the steering column sleeve is composed of a steering column lower sleeve and a steering column upper sleeve which are coaxially arranged; the inner shaft comprises a steering column lower connecting shaft, a telescopic structure outer sleeve, a telescopic structure inner shaft and a steering column upper connecting shaft which are coaxially arranged in sequence, and a ball guide mechanism is arranged between the telescopic structure inner shaft and the telescopic structure outer sleeve; the steering column lower sleeve, the steering column lower connecting shaft and the telescopic structure outer sleeve form a fixed section; and the steering column upper sleeve, the telescopic structure inner shaft and the steering column upper connecting shaft form a movable section. According to the novel steering column, transmission is guaranteed, meanwhile, the movable section can axially move relative to the fixed section, the ball guide mechanism is additionally arranged, and compared with a common spline structure, the friction torque of the structure in the axial direction is small, and adjustment is more convenient.
