The present disclosure provides "systems and methods for reducing brake particulate emissions and battery throughput". Methods and systems are provided for controlling a regenerative braking system including a battery, such as a vehicle. The regenerative braking system harvests energy from a braking event. The energy may be stored in a battery for powering multiple devices in the vehicle, or the battery may be pre-conditioned to provide more capacity to address braking events. The vehicle system may include one or more electrical loads configured to use power from a battery. The method includes detecting a regenerative braking event of the vehicle and activating a first electrical load to consume energy from the regenerative braking event.
