The embodiment of the invention provides a battery cooling method, a thermal management system and a vehicle. The method for cooling the battery comprises the following steps: in response to receiving a request for cooling the battery, determining a cooling demand level for cooling the battery; in response to the determined cooling demand level satisfying a passive cooling condition, determining additional parameters associated with cooling capabilities of a first passive cooling loop and a second passive cooling loop, where the first passive cooling loop includes at least one of a PTC heater and a warm air core; and selecting one of the first passive cooling loop, the second passive cooling loop and the active cooling loop to be thermally coupled with the battery loop to cool the battery according to the determined additional parameters. According to the method, an effective and energy-saving mode in multiple cooling modes can be determined according to the cooling requirement grade of battery cooling and some additional parameters to cool the battery, and energy is effectively utilized while the battery is effectively cooled.
