The invention relates to a wheel cylinder pressure adjusting method and system for a brake-by-wire system, and the method comprises the following steps: estimating the disturbance and uncertain parameters of the brake-by-wire system based on a pre-established kinetic model of the pressure change of a main cylinder of a motor servo type hydraulic brake-by-wire system; master cylinder pressure control parameters are obtained based on the estimation result; designing a wheel cylinder pressure increasing and reducing logic threshold control method, and determining a wheel cylinder allowable pressure error upper limit; on the basis of determining the upper limit of the allowable pressure error of the wheel cylinder, based on a self-adaptive neural network switch electromagnetic valve control method, control parameters of a wheel cylinder pressure adjusting switch electromagnetic valve are obtained through calculation; and based on the obtained main cylinder pressure control parameters and the obtained switch electromagnetic valve control parameters, the main cylinder pressure and the switch electromagnetic valve of the brake-by-wire system are controlled, and wheel cylinder pressure adjustment of the brake-by-wire system is achieved. The method can be widely applied to the field of brake-by-wire systems.
