The invention provides a battery system, a method for detecting an abnormal working condition thereof, and an electric vehicle. The battery system comprises a battery pack and a cooling system, and the battery pack comprises a plurality of battery cells. The cooling system includes a coolant transfer member for circulating a liquid coolant in the cooling circuit, a first heat exchange member integrated into the cooling circuit and in thermal contact with the battery cell, and at least one pressure sensor adapted to detect a pressure change within the cooling circuit. The battery management system is connected to the pressure sensor and the coolant transfer member and is configured to perform: detecting an initial pressure within the cooling circuit with the pressure sensor and closing the coolant transfer member; further acquiring a pressure within the cooling circuit with a pressure sensor during a specified period of time to close the coolant transfer member; and determining a pressure difference between the initial pressure value and the acquired pressure, and detecting an abnormal condition which may cause thermal runaway of the battery pack when the pressure difference exceeds a predetermined threshold.
