The invention relates to accident intensity estimation for a vehicle. In particular, the invention relates to a method for alerting a driver and/or an automated vehicle of a high risk scenario. The method includes obtaining location data of the vehicle, wherein the location data is indicative of a geographic location and heading of the vehicle. The method also includes obtaining environmental data of the vehicle, wherein the environmental data is indicative of a state of an ambient environment of the vehicle. Further, the method includes determining an accident intensity of an upcoming road portion of the vehicle by means of a trained model configured to determine an accident intensity associated with the upcoming road portion based on the acquired environmental data and the acquired location data. Then, if the determined accident intensity exceeds a threshold, the method includes transmitting a signal indicating the approach to the high risk scenario to a human machine interface (HMI) of the vehicle and/or a control system of the vehicle. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer readable storage medium, a device and a vehicle comprising such a device.
