The method comprises the following steps: detecting whether a tower crane slewing mechanism has an operation signal or not; detecting whether the tower crane slewing mechanism rotates or not and detecting the rotation direction of the tower crane slewing mechanism; and under the condition that the tower crane slewing mechanism has no operation signal and the tower crane slewing mechanism rotates, entering an auxiliary braking state, and in the auxiliary braking state, outputting a reverse torque opposite to the rotation direction to the tower crane slewing mechanism to limit or restrain the rotation of the tower crane slewing mechanism. According to the invention, rotation braking can be carried out by applying the auxiliary rotation braking force when unexpected rotation slippage of the rotation mechanism is caused under the conditions of strong wind or improper braking torque setting range of the brake of the tower crane rotation mechanism and the like, so that the unexpected slippage of the rotation mechanism is prevented.
