The invention provides a monitoring method and system for the thickness of a brake friction plate of an electric vehicle and a brake system. The brake friction plate is provided with an initial position and a compensation position used for compensating the brake abrasion loss. The monitoring method comprises the steps that the distance between the initial position and the compensation position is obtained; and if the distance reaches a first threshold value, sending a reminding signal. According to the application, the wear degree of the brake lining of the electric vehicle can be monitored, a user is reminded to replace the brake lining in time, and the driving risk caused by the wear of the brake lining can be reduced.
