The invention relates to systems and methods for chain links (128) of a track chain (124) in a ground engaging track system (102). The link (128) has an elongate link body (130) including first and second crowns (402, 404). The elongate link body (130) includes a shoe surface (132) and a track surface (134). The shoe surface (132) is configured to contact a shoe coupled to the elongate link body (130). The track surface (134) is opposite the track shoe surface (132) and has a first end section (302), a middle section (306), and a second end section (304). First and second crowns (402, 404) on the track surface (134) each define a raised portion of the track surface (134). A first crown (402) is disposed on the first end section (302) and a second crown (404) is disposed on the second end section (304). The first and second crowns (402, 404) are configured to retard formation of a scalloped notch in the orbital surface (134).
