Systems and methods of parking a semi-autonomous following vehicle include performing a path planning to determine a path from a current location of the following vehicle to a parking space, and controlling longitudinal movement of the following vehicle using an accelerator control mechanism and a brake control mechanism operated by a driver of a guide vehicle that is not physically coupled to the following vehicle. The accelerator control mechanism includes a pedal, knob or joystick, and the brake control mechanism includes a pedal, knob or joystick. Lateral movement of the following vehicle is controlled to follow the path to the parking space.
