The energy absorption device comprises a guide piece; an energy absorption element which is provided with a guide cavity and a cell buffering cavity used for buffering, wherein the guide piece penetrates into the guide cavity, and the guide cavity is arranged in the length direction of the energy absorption element; a first bearing piece used for receiving impact and a second bearing piece used for being connected with the vehicle body, wherein the first bearing piece and the second bearing piece are arranged at the two ends of the guide piece in a sleeving mode respectively; the energy absorbing element can be compressed in the length direction of the guiding piece in the collision process. The railway vehicle comprises the energy absorption device. When the first bearing part receives impact, the impact force is transmitted to the energy absorption element through the first bearing part, the cell buffer cavity deforms plastically to dissipate energy generated during impact, the energy absorption element is compressed in the length direction of the guide part through cooperation of the guide part, the energy absorption effect is further optimized, no rebound phenomenon exists after energy absorption, and the energy absorption effect is stable.
