The power battery system comprises a power battery pack; an air pressure sensor which is arranged in the box body of the battery pack and is used for detecting air pressure value change; an acoustic sensor which is arranged in the battery module and is used for collecting noise; a control module which is used for receiving the sound collected by the acoustic sensor and the battery pack box body pressure value measured by the air pressure sensor; wherein when the acoustic sensor detects that the sound intensity of noise is greater than the pressure relief sound intensity of the single battery, the control module is immediately awakened (the step is skipped when the control module is inan operating state), and the control module starts the sound recognition module and the air pressure detection module; and the control module gives an alarm when receiving the sound characteristic and the pressure value in the box body of the battery pack and meeting the preset threshold value at the same time. According to the invention, the space occupied by the sensor is reduced, the cost is saved, and the thermal runaway event of the power battery system can be discovered and early warned at the first time in all states (operation and dormancy).
