The vehicle running speed determination method comprises the steps: obtaining an oil consumption characteristic diagram of an engine of a target vehicle, wherein the oil consumption characteristic diagram is used for indicating the instantaneous oil consumption of the engine when the engine works at each of a plurality of working points; acquiring road information of a target road, and segmenting the target road according to the road information to obtain a plurality of road sections; determining the engine torque of the target vehicle when the target vehicle runs at each speed of a plurality of preset speeds in each road section of the plurality of road sections to obtain a plurality of working points corresponding to each road section; and determining the driving speed of each road section according to the oil consumption characteristic diagram of the engine of the target vehicle and the plurality of working points corresponding to each road section. According to the method, the proper driving speed of the target vehicle running on each road section can be found, so that the oil consumption of vehicle driving can be effectively reduced, the fuel economy of the vehicle is improved, and resources and cost are saved.
