The invention relates to a self-charging electric vehicle. The self-charging electric vehicle comprises a mechanical vehicle body with a driving system, a power module, a charging device, a plurality of voltage detection modules used for detecting the voltage values of a plurality of battery packs, and a controller which is in communication connection with a plurality of the voltage detection modules and a converter, wherein the power module comprises a plurality of the battery packs; each battery pack comprises a plurality of ports; the charging device comprises a power generation system and the converter; the power generation system and a plurality of the battery packs form a plurality of charging circuits capable of being switched on/off; a plurality of discharging circuits capable of being switched on/off are formed between the battery packs and the driving system; the controller can receive the voltage values detected by a plurality of the voltage detection modules, and controls the switch-on/off of the corresponding charging circuits and discharging circuits and the work of the converter according to the voltage values. According to the self-charging electric vehicle, the battery packs can be charged during the driving process, so that energy-saving driving is achieved, and the driving distance after single charging is prolonged.
