The invention provides an axle counting system based on rail transit, which is capable of checking idle and occupied conditions only when a train runs on a branch line of a turnout. The axle counting system comprises a switch module connected between a power module and a signal amplification module, and the power supply of the signal amplification module is controlled through the switch module according to an external control signal, thereby switching off or switching on the signal connection between the signal amplification module and an axle counting operation module as well as the signal connection between the signal amplification module and an output module. Different from the traditional technology which adopts a method of switching off the physical connection between an axle counting sensor and an axle counting arithmetic unit, the invention solves the problems of high cost and high construction difficulty. The axle counting system based on rail transit also comprises a switch detection module for detecting whether the switch module works normally or not, thereby avoiding the switching-off failure caused by the abnormity of the switch module and improving the safety coefficient. According to the method for solving poor shunting of the track by adopting the axle counting system, the cost can be effectively reduced, and the safety of the axle counting system can be improved.
