A light connecting rod for a railway vehicle comprises a rod body and joints arranged at the two ends of the rod body. The light connecting rod is characterized in that the rod body is made of a macromolecular composite material with epoxy resin as a matrix and high-strength fibers as enhancers; the rod body is molded through a winding process or a molding process; the weight of the rod body ranges from 8 kg to 12 kg, the tensile load is larger than 200 kN, and the length ranges from 200 mm to 500 mm. The light connecting rod for the railway vehicle can replace a connecting rod of a metal rod body of a bogie, the weight of the connecting rod is reduced, and the operation energy consumption of the vehicle is decreased.
