The invention discloses a magnetic medium surface climbing robot based on electromagnetic chucks. The magnetic medium surface climbing robot comprises pushrod motors and the electromagnetic chucks. The magnetic medium surface climbing robot is characterized in that a support base plate, transverse motion mechanisms installed on the upper surface of the support base plate and vertical motion mechanisms installed on the lower surface of the support base plate are included; the transverse motion mechanisms and the vertical motion mechanisms are connected with the support base plate through the pushrod motors; the transverse motion mechanisms and the vertical motion mechanisms are each provided with electromagnetic chunk installation frames and guide rods connected with the electromagnetic chunk installation frames; the electromagnetic chunks are installed on the electromagnetic chunk installation frames. The magnetic medium surface climbing robot based on the electromagnetic chucks is simple in structure, convenient to control and capable of being stably adsorbed and freely moving on a magnetic medium surface.
