The invention discloses a method for adaptively switching high and low beam lights. A vehicle body is provided with a speed sensor which obtains a running speed of a vehicle. The front of the vehicle is provided with a distance collection module which is used for collecting the distance between the vehicle and a front barrier according to a preset collection period. The method comprises the steps: firstly calculating the relative speed of the vehicle to the barrier according to the distance from the vehicle to the barrier in the current collection period, the distance from the vehicle to the barrier in the last collection period and the preset collection period; and secondly controlling the switching of the high and low beam lights according to the relative speed, the running speed of the vehicle and the distance from the vehicle to the barrier in the current collection period. The method is simple in design, is convenient to use, can adaptively switch the high and low beam lights, prevents a driver from forgetting switching, and guaranteeing the driving safety.
