The invention discloses a steel wire rope tensioning mechanism, and relates to the steel wire rope tensioning mechanism of a tower crane. The steel wire rope tensioning mechanism comprises two lug plates. A ratchet wheel is arranged between the two lug plates. A ratchet groove is formed in the ratchet wheel which is supported by the two lug plates through a transmission shaft. A long hole is formed in each lug plate. A slide shaft is arranged above the transmission shaft and parallel to the transmission shaft. The two ends of the slide shaft are arranged in the long holes of the lug plates in a penetrating mode respectively. The slide shaft falls into the ratchet groove of the ratchet wheel through the dead weight. Due to the design, a steel wire rope is wound around the ratchet, when the transmission shaft drives the ratchet wheel to rotate clockwise, the slide shaft is pushed by an arc-shaped pawl of the ratchet wheel to slide upwards along the long holes of the lug plates on the two sides, and the slide shaft falls into the ratchet groove under the effect of gravity each time when the ratchet wheel rotates by a pawl angle; when the ratchet wheel rotates anticlockwise, the slide shaft falls into the ratchet groove to prevent the ratchet wheel from rotating anticlockwise and plays a role in braking, and the slide shaft is reliable and stable in braking and easy and convenient to manufacture.
