The invention relates to a novel transverse parking robot comprising a robot base and two lifting mechanisms arranged on a robot body. The lifting mechanisms are mutually parallel. The lifting mechanisms are provided with wheel carrier mechanisms in Z shapes and parallel to each other, respectively. The wheel carrier mechanisms are partially disposed within a U-shaped cavity and are close to the side of the robot body. Each wheel carrier mechanism is provided with a wheel carrier end parallel to the side of the robot body; each wheel carrier end is provided with a U-shaped wheel support part extending along the length of the wheel carrier end. Two retractable car drive wheels are arranged below each wheel carrier end. During parking, the retractable car drive wheels below the wheel carrier ends are extended out, the wheel carrier ends are lowered through the lifting mechanisms, the retractable car drive wheels are contacted with the ground, and the requirement of the robot on bearing capacity of the drive wheels of the robot base during car transferring is lowered.
