An onboard train system 10 comprises a vehicle 8, an onboard train device 6, a first device 1, and second devices 2, 3. The vehicle 8 travels due to vehicle wheels 4 rolling over a track. The first device 1 detects rotation of the vehicle wheels 4 and/or rotation of axles of the vehicle wheels 4. The second devices 2, 3 detect the traveling state of the vehicle 8. The onboard train device 6 is a control device installed in the vehicle 8 in order to control the traveling of the vehicle 8, and the onboard device determines sliding and/or idling of the vehicle 8 on the basis of the detection result of the first device 1 and the detection results of the second devices 2, 3. The onboard train device 6 safely controls the traveling of the vehicle 8 on the basis of the determination result and a signal from the onboard device.
