AbstractMeteosat and AVHRR data have been used to estimate some parameters of a soil-vegetation-atmosphere model for the water budget retrieval. The albedo is derived from Meteosat and the vegetation parameters within the HAPEX domain and during the Special Observing Period of this experiment are inferred from the AVHRR vegetation index through a classification in dominant surface types. Maps of the model parameters derived from the satellite data are illustrated and results of the modelling are shown.
