Report describes vehicle developed for studying friction between braked wheel and surface of roads and runways by measurement of braking torques; machine enables tests to be made under wheel load up to 5 tons, inflation pressures of 25 to 260 lb/sq in., and speed up to 60 mi/hr; tests can be made with locked wheel or with braking controlled by means of inertia operated anti-locking unit; vehicle has been modified to enable drag forces to be measured.
