Investigation to develop technique for measuring driving hazard of one highway relative to another; data for study were collected with Drivometer-equipped test car operating on six functionally different highways; driving hazard study was specifically intended to explore any correlation that might exist between recorded Drivometer events included and traffic volumes on given facility; Drivometer events included total travel time, change in speed, running time, small and large steering reversals, brake and accelerator applications, and changes in direction of travel; results showed that Drivometer-equipped vehicle makes it possible to compute traffic volumes with statistical confidence.
