Of more than 200 cargo ships scheduled to be produced by major shipbuilding yards in Canada under present program, all but 18 are of "North Sands" 10,000-ton class; 18 are of "William Gray" 4700-ton class; particulars of "North Sands" type of ship; length oa 441.5 ft; breadth extreme 57 ft; three boilers are of Scotch marine, forced draft, single end type, 14 3/4 ft in diam by 11 3/4 ft long; main engine is of 3-cyl reciprocating type, and with steam at 220 lb pressure, it develops 2500 hp.
