All-welded hull is longitudinally framed with transverse web frames; transverse bulkheads extending up to main deck divide hull into 14 watertight compartments; superstructure is grouped amidships with O1 deck extended forward to accommodate anti-submarine weapons and aft to form helicopter deck; twin funnels are faired into after end of superstructure, and rigging comprises two tubular masts stepped 100 ft apart; length oa 378 ft 4 1/4 in., breadth 42 ft, depth 26 ft, full load draft 13 ft 11 1/4 in., full load displacement 2871 tons; cruising range is 24 days at 20 knots; plans showing details of arrangements are included.
