Design and construction details of five vessels recently completed by Fore River plant of Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. at Quincy, Mass., are for typical cruising cutters capable of making long off-shore cruises for rendering assistance to vessels in distress; length o.a. 250 ft., speed 17.32 knots; propulsion unit consists of steam turbine direct connected to a.c. generator, with synchronous motor secured to propeller shaft.
