Tests at laboratory of Canada's National Research Council on 12-cyl diesel engine for General Motors 567C locomotive coupled to D12 generator with output dissipated in General Electric aircooled resistor bank; satisfactory early results led to simultaneous road and laboratory work; vapor pressures of crude oils and large quantities of filterable materials required redesign of locomotive filter systems to assure reliability of service; tests were carried out on 3 types of Canadian crudes.
