Road Rating Program (1963) was intended to serve as start of series of annual programs to determine how new model cars rate fuels of varying characteristics; by testing fuels in several pairs of cars of same make and model, it would permit separation of car effect from laboratory effect on relative order in which various fuels are rated; 21 test fuels were rated at maximum throttle in highest gear by Modified Borderline and Modified Uniontown procedures; description of fuels, vehicles, and test techniques used; tabulation of road octane numbers and spark advance of each fuel in each car is contained in Appendix E.
