Tests carried out on French National Railways showed that higher speeds increase complexity of oscillatory phenomena especially at critical speeds, but these transitory phenomena can be lessened by means of relatively simple modifications made to catenary by elimination of excessive curvature, lengthening of hangers giving initial dip to contact wires, spacing of hangers, and lessening of transition incline.
