Equations for oscillations are formed for axle-suspended traction motor drive-gear; particular stress was laid on presenting effect of springs on dynamic pressures; stresses are calculated for typical electric locomotive with and without springs in larger gear wheel; initial strengths of springs are not considered; analysis attempts in quantitative terms to present effect of springs in reducing dynamic action of wheels on rails.
