It is noted that with introduction of Saturn space program which involves space vehicles of gigantic proportions (S-IC booster e.g. will be 138 ft long, of 33 ft diam and weigh 500,000 lb), water transportation became only feasible means of transferring large stages between geographically separated areas; this aspect is discussed with reference to requirements and water route; length of Clermont is 65 ft, beam 20 ft, molded depth 10 ft, and draft 7 ft; vessel is intended to handle cryogenic and stage barges and to serve as firefighting auxiliary; gas turbine-electric propulsion machinery is installed.
